Truman and MacArthur

President Truman fired General MacArthur after the general went against his policies and argued publicly for an invasion of China. In this lesson, students explore how Americans responded to Truman's decision to fire MacArthur and consider how the historical context of early Cold War America shaped the conflict between these two icons.
