Carlisle Indian Industrial School

The Carlisle Indian Industrial School opened in 1879 under the direction of Captain Richard Henry Pratt. Funded by the United States government, the school was a model for many other boarding schools for Native American children. As part of this lesson, students examine four historical documents to answer this question: What was the purpose of the Carlisle Indian Industrial School?
